My story

From a young age, I knew that I had a passion for two things: mental health and words.

I often found myself dissecting every lyric in the music I listened to, along with printing quotes I had seen online to express how I was feeling. When I was young, I also had counselling for the first time. I experienced facing my feelings, the way I understood them, and the world around me.

I remember sitting in front of my counsellor, hearing her advice and thinking:

“I want to do what she’s doing; I want to help people.

Since then, I have been on a journey of advocating against the stigma that surrounds mental health. There is so much stigma around talking about how you feel. Feelings are made to be felt. Feelings are made to be expressed. I am a firm believer that we should be able to seek the support and encouragement we need when we need it and normalise the inevitable ups and downs that we all universally go through. I will always champion for that.

A few years ago, I decided to start writing poetry. I began writing as a way to process a lot of feelings and thoughts I was having through a forever-changing time in my life—my early twenties! Since then, I started uploading my words online, and the response you have given me has been absolutely mind-blowing!

My debut poetry book ‘Growing’, has been my anchor through what has felt like a very chaotic past few years. The book shows my journey of self-discovery, healing, and learning to accept change. I hope that the poems I have included help you just as much as it helped me to write them.

To be able to combine both of my passions in a way that feels so authentic has been one of the most rewarding experiences I have had.

Writing is my escape. Writing feels like home, and I am so glad you are here.

Thank you for all of the support.
